Lifestream Biogenic aloeMINT™ – your IBS management support

Lifestream Biogenic aloeMINT™ provides natural relief for abdominal discomfort such as bloating, abdominal pain, cramping and for symptomatic relief of medically-diagnosed irritable bowel syndrome. The special enteric coating delays the release of the peppermint oil until it passes through the stomach and reaches the bowel.

Lifestream Aloe Vera

Lifestream Biogenic aloeMINT™ is prepared exclusively from premium quality freshly cut, aloe vera ‘inner gel’. The pure ‘inner gel’ of the Aloe barbadensis plant contains numerous plant phytonutrients and active components such as saponins and polysaccharides, essential for cell growth and renewal.

Aloe Vera is soothing to the lining of the stomach and supports smooth, natural and efficient digestion. Aloe Vera helps maintain healthy intestinal bacteria and supports a healthy immune function.

Lifestream Peppermint

Peppermint aids in the maintenance of well being and has been traditionally used in western herbal medicine as an antispasmodic and carminative herb for gastrointestinal discomfort. Peppermint supports the health of the digestive system and may assist in the relief of wind.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

In IBS the normal rhythmic contractions of the digestive tract become irregular and uncoordinated; this in turn interferes with the normal movement of food and waste material.

This is a common condition that affects approximately 15% of the population, affecting women more than men in a 2:1 ratio. IBS is the most common gastrointestinal disorder and represents 30-50% of all referrals to gastroenterologists. The true amount will more than likely be more than this due to many people not seeking medical attention.

IBS is commonly caused by food allergies, stress or lack of fibre in the diet.

There are four major treatments for IBS, from a natural perspective:

1. Increasing intake of dietary fibre.

2. Eliminating allergenic foods.

3. Using enteric-coated volatile oils (Peppermint being one of these).

4. Controlling psychological components.

The enteric coating prevents the dissolution of the capsules until it has reached the target site in the intestines. This allows administration of a higher dose than would otherwise be possible to tolerate.
